Ruptured = ???

Call me crazy but is there some definition for ‘rupture’ other than ‘burst?’
Upon hearing that PC’s appendix had ruptured, over two dozen (that’s TWENTY-FOUR!) people responded:
“Oh, thank goodness it hadn’t burst yet!”
{scratching my head…}

Maybe “burst” equates to explosive rupture and rupture equates to any type of leakage? I don’t know but neither sounds optimal.
Curious, can Rabbi’s cover health terminology as part of adult ed?
😉
hee hee…i am definitely lol:-)
Well, gee, both sound serious! Even if you didn’t know the difference between a rupture and a burst as pertaining to an appendix, why would you be relieved that it ‘only’ burst???
oops, I mean ‘only’ ruptured!
I think that most people correlate a “burst” appendix with death. I think they’re saying “At least he didn’t die.”
