Silly Rabbi
It happens on a near-daily basis. With house-key in hand, I fumble with the handle. Only to realize, once again, that my house-key will not open the door to my study. And on the very same day, the reverse happens. I chuckle every time as I find the correct key for the door. Especially given how radically the keys differ from one another.
I suppose the cynics among you will see this as a sign that I spend far too much time at work.
You know what I think?
My house and my shul are two halves of my home.

Another busy week in the Jewish Blogosphere. The Rebbetzin’s Husband (what a great name!) takes on the mantle of hosting Haveil Havalim #291 – The Tribute to Stephen Harper Edition. And JPIX – The I Can’t Believe It’s Nearly Hanukkah Edition is up over at Around the Island.
i agree with you. both are my home, in different ways.
What I love is that I know my kids feel the same way. As I am certain yours do too.
I need a Facebook style “like” button for this.
😉
Feel free to “like” it over on Frume Sarah’s FB page!
This actually made me a little weapy. Sad because I just read a letter from you and realized how difficult this decision must be for you.
As much as my family and I will deeply miss you, I agree with your decision. I think you are doing the right thing for your family.
As I keep saying, just because a decision is the right one does not mean that it is without sadness.
I think I missed something. Are you switching synagogues? New job closer to home? Leaving the Rabbinate entirely? What’s going on?
Now you have the answer. Leaving the active rabbinate to care for my son. And moving across the country.
That’s nothing, I have tried to use the electronic clicker thing for my car to unlock both my house and my office door. You know what? It doesn’t work on either!
That’s pretty funny.
“My house and my shul are two halves of my home.”
I really like that comment. I’m glad I found your blog today to read it.
