Whose Day?

With Mother’s Day less than a week away, retailers have been hakking us left and right with gift ideas. Jewelry, flowers, spa treatments, brunch. Anything to make Mom feel loved. Cherished. Appreciated.

Not to be left out, places such as Chuck E. Cheese, Sky High Sports, and Boomers are getting in on the action.

Look, I love my kids. And I am willing to engage in activities that hold their interest any every other day of the year. Shouldn’t I be gifted one day out of the year that is characterless, jumpless, and bumper-carless?

At least this Pump-it-Up has the right idea; send the kids with Dad and let me stay home.

“Shouldn’t I be gifted one day out of the year that is characterless, jumpless, and bumper-carless?” In another 15-20 years, my friend! Have a great Mother’s Day.

Nope. Refuse to accept this reality.

And you have a great one too 😉

Irene – not even then … because at some point it becomes about the grandkids ….

Not in our family. It’s about the mothers at the top of the food chain. Never, NEVER about the kids. Or grandkids.

As we were always told, “you kids get 364 days a year. Today is not your day.”

Instead, I’m just going to Sunday School.

    Sounds…thrilling, don’t ya think? 🙂

Blech. Really? We stopped fighting that battle quite some time ago.

Seconded! I was telling another blogger yesterday that she ought not feel guilty for wanting a day of peace and manicures. With all the hubbub of the rest of the year, shouldn’t it be a day of relaxation?

Mother’s day is my day to thank Izzy for blessing me with motherhood.

June 25, June 14, & April 13 are my days to thank my children from blessing me with motherhood.

Mother’s Day is their day to thank me for giving them life.

All I ask for is a “no decision-making” day. My brain needs one day of rest 🙂

If there’s one day of the year that I want to spend with my kids, it’s Mother’s Day. Being a mom is the greatest thing ever and, while I need my personal time too, I don’t want a break from them that day.
