Gettin’ Our Shehechiyanu On

"It's snowing!"

“It’s snowing, it’s snowing!!!!!!!”

Anyone watching the ganze production of our three native Californians suiting up for the “snow” would have fallen over in hysterics. Though less funny once we explained that gatkes do indeed go over one’s underwear…

What made the entire thing so funny, at the time, was that what they were calling “snow” was merely a dusting. That led, by the very end, to TEN INCHES of snow — in OCTOBER.

The moment for which they'd been waiting

It was exciting for them. And it was a first. Their first. And so we thanked God for “bringing us to life, sustaining us, and allowing us to capture this one perfect moment of Your Doing.”

Just a little heads up- get a portable generator if you don’t have one already and some very long extension chords. This is the second storm this year we were without power for days. Finally it came back on last night. We may not have had heat, but with a portable generator we had a fridge and small appliances. We also hooked everything up to a small carbattery recharger so we were able to recharge our phones and the boys handheld Nintendo DS. Also keep several boxes of duraflame logs on hand and atleast a half a chord of wood too. Battery operated fans for the summer and a chorded old fashioned phone to replace your chordless. Some snaplights are good too. Basically go see what people buy in a camping store (camping lights and a camping stove). Good luck and enjoy the northeast.
