Minor Hiatus

Monday, 23 July 2007

Just while I am reading Harry Potter! PC finished it yesterday and I was able to start it late last night. Am into chapter seven…not much headway, I know.

While we are on the topic of reading, what are you reading right now?? If you are in the market for a good read, let me suggest the following:

When You Catch an Adjective, Kill It by Ben Yagoda is a must read for any self-proclaimed logophile.

Waiting for Daisy by Peggy Orenstein is a poignant and hopeful look at the all-too-common struggle with infertility.

I am in the midst of them and enjoying them immensely. Yes, I am one of those readers who is simultaneously in the midst of several books most of the time.

Since the school year is so jam packed, I like to spend my summers reading meaty material that I can really dig into. So I’m reading My Antonia right now and heading to A Tale of Two Cities and Heart of Darkness next.

Oh my — I haven’t thought of that Willa Cather classic in years! DadGiraffe gave that to me as a reading assignment many, many years ago.

I can honestly report that I’ve never had a strong desire to pick up Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, but I might be swayed!!

And Tale of Two Cities is classic Dickens.

    Happy reading 😉

Harry Potter resulted in a minor hiatus around here, too (of blogging, housework, sleeping, just about everything). Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
